The Inter-Relationship between Dietary and Environmental Properties and Tooth Wear: Comparisons of Mesowear, Molar Wear Rate, and Hypsodonty Index of Extant Sika Deer Populations
In reference to the evolutionary trend of increasing cheek tooth height in herbivorous ungulates, the causes of dental abrasion have long been debated. Interspecific comparisons of extant ungulates have revealed that both phytoliths in grass and external abrasive matter may play important roles. Using analysis of extant sika deer living in various environments and showing continuous latitudinal...

An odontome is a slow growing and non-aggressive odonotogenic tumor composed of enamel, dentin, cementum and pulp tissue.complax odontome comprise of an unorganized mass of odonotogenic tissues, morphologically not resembling the normal teeth.in this report,a case of rare odontoma in a ten-years-old boy that caused dalayed eruption of a maxillary right farst permanent molar, buccal expansion of the...
متن کاملOverabundance of sika deer and immunocontraception
The impact of deer overabundance is a worldwide problem. Along with habitat expansion and population increase, damage by sika deer to the forest ecosystem and agriculture has become a serious issue in Japan. Deer also transmit a number of diseases and parasites to humans and livestock. The overabundance of deer is a result of their strong fecundity, and therefore the present situation should, i...
متن کاملEhrlichia chaffeensis Infection of Sika Deer, Japan
To determine whether Ehrlichia chaffeensis exists in Japan, we used PCR to examine blood from sika deer in Nara, Japan. Of 117 deer, 36 (31%) were infected with E. chaffeensis. The E. chaffeensis 16S rRNA base and GroEL amino acid sequences from Japan were most closely related to those of E. chaffeensis Arkansas.
متن کاملMandibular Talon Cusp Associated With Molar-Incisor Hypomineralization and Delayed Tooth Eruption
Talon cusp is an odontogenic anomaly in anterior teeth, caused by hyperactivity of enamel in morphodifferentiation stage. Talon cusp is an additional cusp with several types based on its extension and shape. It has enamel, dentin, and sometimes pulp tissue. Moreover, it can cause clinical problems such as poor aesthetic, dental caries, attrition, occlusal interferences, and periodontal di...
